The Mile High Horror Film Festival takes place each fall in Denver, Colorado.

Its mission is to showcase the very best independent horror films from around the world.

The 2012 festival will take place October 5-7 at the Denver FilmCenter/Colfax.

In 2011, we showcased over 30 films from 11 different countries hosting many Colorado debuts.

Our 2011 guest judges included the director of "The Blair Witch Project," Mr. Dan Myrick, and the writer of the "Final Destination" series, Mr. Jeffrey Reddick.

We were honored to present Michael Berryman with a Lifetime Achievement Award for Excellence in Horror Film. He is the star of such notable films as; "The Hills Have Eyes" (I & II), Rob Zombie's "The Devil's Rejects," "The Lords of Salem," "My Science Project" and "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" among many other productions. We presented Mr. Berryman his award following a screening of Wes Craven's original "The Hills Have Eyes" (1977).

Executive Director: Timothy Schultz

Festival Director Timothy SchultzFestival director Timothy Schultz is a filmmaker and an avid fan of the horror genre.

Timothy owns the independent Denver based production company Bullhead Entertainment, LLC and has produced a few films of his own, such as the award-winning short film The Cave: An Adaptation of Plato’s Allegory in Clay and a feature-length documentary about ghosts titled Chasing the Shadows.

As a filmmaker and a fan of independent film, Timothy attended numerous film festivals before deciding to start the Mile High Horror Film Festival.

“I was looking to start something in Denver that hadn’t been done before. There was no true horror film festival in the Denver area, yet I knew the audience was here because I was one of them. I think Denver is hungry for a festival such as this. Our mission is to showcase the very best independent horror films from around the world and I’m very excited to bring this to Denver.”
